Paul Smith and Artek have released Edition Three of the Stool 60, continuing a partnership that began two years earlier. The new version takes Alvar Aalto’s famous three-legged birch design and filters it through Smith’s familiar love of unexpected colour.
The legs appear in Lemon Yellow, Burgundy and Melrose Pink, while the seat keeps a natural wood surface. Flip the stool and a hidden Malachite Green underside appears, a small surprise that feels true to Smith’s approach. The piece still works as a seat, side table or simple surface, and remains fully stackable so groups of them create a lively striped effect.
Earlier editions are also being restocked, giving collectors the chance to gather the full sequence. The collaboration once again shows how a nearly century-old form can stay fresh when treated with both respect and a light, colourful hand.
